Is DipIMC.Ninja free?
Yes. Every question, station and feature is free, with no adverts. If you'd like to support it, there is an optional buy me a coffee link.
Is this an official RCSEd resource?
No. DipIMC.Ninja is independent and is not issued, accredited or endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh or its Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care. The College publishes its own sample questions.
Who writes the questions?
Leigh Rogers, a consultant paramedic working towards the DipIMC himself, writes and maintains the bank. Questions are drafted with the help of AI tools and published only after an independent check against every cited source. See About.
How accurate are the questions?
Every answer names its sources: book, chapter and page, or the guideline section or statute, with a link where possible. That way you can check any answer yourself instead of taking it on trust. If you think one is wrong, press Flag this. Flags are reviewed, and every correction is logged against the question's version number.
Which guidelines are the questions based on?
Current UK practice:
- Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines 2025
- current NICE guidance (for example NG253 for sepsis)
- JRCALC
- the FPHC consensus statements
- current major incident doctrine, including Ten Second Triage (2023)
The DipIMC regulations say the exam is based predominantly on accepted UK practice at the time of the exam (Regulations 1.3).
How many questions are there?
366 single best answer questions and 26 timed stations, covering all 69 units of the PHEM curriculum. New questions are added regularly.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without one, and your progress is kept in your browser. Signing in with Google, Apple, Microsoft or an email link keeps your progress and reading list across your devices.
What is the reading list?
Every answer lists its sources. If you get a question wrong, you can add those sources to your personal reading list, grouped by book and page, and tick them off as you read.
Can I use DipIMC.Ninja on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phone, tablet or computer.
About the exam
What is the DipIMC?
The Diploma in Immediate Medical Care is the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's exam in pre-hospital emergency care, open to doctors, nurses and paramedics. See the DipIMC exam explained.
What is the format?
Part A is 180 single best answer questions in 180 minutes. Part B is an OSPE of 14 stations: 12 of 8 minutes and 2 of 16 minutes (Regulations section 1).
How much experience do I need to sit it?
Under the current regulations:
- Doctors, nurses and paramedics: at least four years in practice after registration.
- Doctors in a UK approved PHEM training programme: alternatively, 5 months whole-time equivalent training.
- Candidates outside the UK: must apply for special consideration.

How much does it cost?
The College listed the fee at £798 for the January 2027 diet (checked 26 September 2026). Check the College's exam page for the current fee.
Is there an official reading list?
No. The exam is set against the PHEM curriculum and current UK guidance. See our reading list for the sources the question bank draws on.
How are the Part B stations marked?
Against a checklist for each station, with the pass mark built up from all 14 stations and no station weighted more than another. So a weak station can be made up for by a strong one (Review, p. 16). See Part B.

What happens to my data?
Without an account, your progress stays in your own browser and is not sent anywhere. With an account, your attempts, badges, profile and reading list are stored so they follow you between devices. There is no tracking, no analytics and no marketing. See the privacy notice.
How do I delete my account?
From the Profile page. Deleting your account removes your profile and every attempt, badge, reading-list item and sign-in identity from the database.
